Dr. Arnab Bhattacharya is currently working as an Associate Professor in Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur. He is associated with IIT, Kanpur since 2007. Prior to this, he was a Project Scientist in Department of Computer Science at University of California, Santa Barbara, USA and Software Design Engineer, Texas Instruments (India) Ltd. at Bangalore, India.
Dr. Arnab Bhattacharya got his Ph.D. and M.S. degrees from Department of Computer Science, University of California, Santa Barbara, USA. He completed his B.E. degree from Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Jadavpur University, India. He published his research articles in several reputed journals and also delivered invited talks in various premier institutions. He handled 15 major sponsored projects and also got 2 patents to his credit. He is the author of the book “Fundamentals of Database Indexing and Searching” published by CRC Press. As of now, two PhD scholars have graduated under his guidance and currently 5 are pursuing. He organized various workshops and programmes and also served as a programme chair for various events.
He received IBM Faculty Research Award in 2014; award for Faculty Research and Engagement Program from Yahoo in 2011 and best paper awards from several International conferences hosted by various premier institutions. His areas of research interest include Databases, Data Mining, Information Retrieval, Natural Language Processing, and Artificial Intelligence.
