Dr. Sujala D. Shetty

Dr. Sujala D. Shetty is currently working as an Associate Professor at BITS Pilani, Dubai Campus and has 23 years of teaching experience. She is working with BITS Pilani, Dubai Campus since September 2002. Previously, she worked in Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal in the Computer Science Department.

Dr. Sujala D. Shetty got her Ph.D. degree from BITS Pilani, Rajasthan, India; M.Tech in Computer Science discipline from Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal, India; and B.E. in Computer Science discipline from Bangalore Institute of Technology, Bangalore, India. 

She published her research articles in several reputed journals and international conferences. She delivered invited talks and keynote sessions in various institutions. She also served as a programme chair for several international conferences. She guided many thesis, dissertations and projects that were undertaken by the undergraduate and postgraduate students. She has successfully guided one PhD student and is currently guiding two PhD students. Her research areas are Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, IoT, Web Services, and Network Security.

She is the faculty advisor for ACM and ACM-W. She is instrumental in starting ACM-W in 2019. ACM-W is the Women in Tech arm of ACM. ACM-W at BITS Dubai was the first such chapter for women in U.A.E. Their ACM chapter was awarded Student Chapter Excellence Award for Outstanding Chapter Activities by ACM headquarters, New York in April 2020.
